Mohammad Hatem, President, BKMEA, said, “Through the Talent Hunt program, we aim to identify and empower promising individuals who can contribute meaningfully to the growth of our industry, and I sincerely hope for the continued success of this initiative. At the same time, we are giving careful attention to the ongoing discussions surrounding labor laws. The growing rigidity toward workers, along with external pressures pushing our industry toward instability, remains a significant concern.”

He emphasized, “In countries like China, trade unions do not exist—only welfare associations operate. Yet, we often find ourselves under considerable external pressure while simultaneously facing internal challenges from within our own government. If this situation continues, we will have no choice but to close the industry and hand over the keys to you to manage. I urge our government to carefully consider these matters.”

Sk. Bashir Uddin, Honorable Adviser, Ministry of Textile & Jute, said, “The government has recently enacted new legislation aimed at addressing the issue of illegal income, ensuring that such earnings cannot be legalized. This marks an important step toward building a more transparent and accountable society. Our vision is to create a discrimination-free nation where there is no need to convert illegal income into legal wealth.

Over the years, our country has faced numerous challenges, but I am pleased to share that our national reserves have seen remarkable improvement. While we once had reserves of approximately $6 billion, today that figure has risen to a notable $32 billion. This progress, however, comes with its own set of challenges. There has been some hesitation regarding investments, and the current situation—shaped by past administrative actions—requires collective effort to overcome.”

He further marked that through collective effort, Bangladesh can build a nation that earns global respect and stands proudly as a leading force in the world. Together, he added, we can establish our country with dignity and honor, advancing as a prominent and progressive nation.”

Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Acting Vice Chancellor of the BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) said , “There are many sectors like agriculture that have established robust research centers, but unfortunately, our textile industry lacks a dedicated government-funded research center. This gap in support hinders the industry’s potential for growth and innovation. To remain competitive on the global stage, the government needs to recognize and support the innovative minds in the textile sector, encouraging further breakthroughs and advancements.”
