Foundation
The Dabir-Sohani-Suraiya Foundation was established in August 2022 under the Society Registration Act XXI of 1860 as a non-political, non-profit, and voluntary organization. The Foundation’s mission is to support the welfare and development of the local community in Rupganj (Narayanganj), the birthplace of the late Dabiruddin Chowdhury. The Foundation’s initiatives include building libraries, establishing mosques and educational institutions, providing medical care to the underprivileged, offering scholarships to meritorious but financially disadvantaged students, and promoting environmental protection through tree plantation. The Foundation’s initial capital of Tk. 14,92,000 was raised from nine donor members. Additionally, Chowdhury Mohammed Hanif Shoeb, the Foundation’s President and Managing Director of Salma Group, has committed to contributing Tk. 2,00,000 monthly from his textile mills. The Foundation has partnered with Dhaka University to provide scholarships for 10 students, with plans to extend this to 40
students over the next four years.
The Foundation’s ongoing efforts include funding education, healthcare, and social welfare projects, aligned with ESG principles, making it a key component of Salma Group’s commitment to social responsibility. The following outlines the key initiatives that we have implemented, those currently in progress, and the future plans we have in place
